Q:
Will my original photograph be returned?
A: Yes,
the PhotoStone process does not alter or damage your original photo
in any way. Your photo
should be carefully packaged when you ship it to avoid any damage
while in transit. Alternately,
you may choose to e-mail us your digital image or mail it to us on a CD.
Please
refer
to
our image guidelines for more information.
Q: I have
a 5x7 photograph, do I need to make a larger print if I want an 8x10
PhotoStone?
A: No. Your original does not have to be the exact size of
the PhotoStone you would like to order. If you are sending an original, we will scan and
scale your image appropriately. If you are sending your image on
disk, please refer to our image guidelines
for more information.
Q: How is
this done? Do you attach a photograph to the stone?
A: The patented PhotoStone process is NOT mounting a physical photograph
onto
stone. Our process transfers ink to the surface of the
stone
and
then a sealant is applied. When you touch the PhotoStone,
you can feel the smooth surface of the marble and there is nothing attached to
it.
Q:
How should I care for my PhotoStone?
A: We recommend cleaning with a soft, dry cloth. Mild soap and water can
also be used. Chemical cleaners or abrasive cleaners should NOT be used. Do not
try to clean it with any household cleaning products.
The biggest threat to a PhotoStone is gravity - try not to drop it because
it will break.
Q: How long will my PhotoStone last? Can I use it outdoors?
A: If you treat your PhotoStone like any fine photograph it will last a lifetime.
Try to keep it out of direct sunlight or it will fade just like a photograph
would. It can be kept in a sunny room, but position it so that it is not in direct
sunlight. PhotoStones should NOT
be used in outdoor settings, including cemeteries. Weather and sunlight would
eventually ruin the PhotoStone.
Q:
I have some photos that were taken by a professional photographer
OR I just went to a portrait studio and got some great pictures
of my children OR I just had my wedding photos completed. Can I
send
you one of these photographs?
A: PhotoStone respects the Copyright of professional photographers and studios.
You
must
obtain
permission
from
the photographer or studio before these photos can be made into PhotoStones.
There
is a place
on
the Order
Form where
the photographer or studio can grant permission.
If
the photographer or studio does not grant permission, we will not make a PhotoStone
using any of these photos.
Q: How long
does it take to receive my PhotoStone once my order is received?
A: PhotoStones are produced one time per month. If we receive
your order by the 15th of the month, your PhotoStone will ship by
the end of that month. There
is the
possiblity
of rushing a PhotoStone for an extra fee. Please call us for details.
Q: Can I send you a digital scan of my photograph
instead of the original?
A: We accept digital files that meet the specifications outlined
in our image guidelines.
Q: Can I e-mail my photos to Photostone?
A: Yes. Please refer to our image guidelines
for more information and email them to orders@photostone.com.
Q: Do you offer image retouching for old photos or
digital compositing?
A: We do not offer any retouching services at this time.
